Here are the 4 location options for 20-minute mini sessions in Kelowna. Each spot will look different depending on the season, time of day and type of light the day of your shoot. Cloudy and sunny light both have their different perks and advantages (I love both!).

Option 1: 5-minute drive from downtown Kelowna

This spot is open to vehicles from Spring-Fall from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Early evening is the best time of day to shoot here for light. It’s beautiful year round, with it being green in the Spring (with yellow Arrowleaf Balsamroot flowers mid to late-April) and turning golden in the summer.

Option 2: 12-minute from downtown Kelowna

This beautiful wooded area is accessible year round with a short, easy stroll to beautiful backdrops with lots of trees. It’s more green in the Spring and turns golden the rest of the year. The green trees always provide some nice green colour in the backdrop even in Fall and Winter, which I love about it. Early morning and early evening are the best times of day to shoot here for light but it also works most times of the day if you have young kids with naps or early bedtimes, etc to work around.

Option 3: 15-minute drive from downtown Kelowna

This park is most beautiful from late Spring to late Fall when there are leaves on the trees. It’s lush and green most of Spring/Summer with a large creek and little stream that is easier to access. It explodes in beautiful yellows in the Fall. It’s also great to shoot at any time of the day because of the shade coverage which softens bright afternoon sun, but there are times of the day that work best for particular backdrops like the creek and long greenway. The best shoot time differs, depending on the time of year.

Option 4: 24-minute drive from downtown Kelowna

This lakeside park has two areas, the North/East beach and the North bluff-lookout + West Beach. For a 20-minute Session, you’ll want to choose either the bluff, or one of the beaches. To do more areas, you’ll need a longer session. I recommend booking shoots for this spot on weekdays or in seasons where people aren’t swimming as much to avoid crowded beaches. Evenings or early mornings work best for light (as well as busyness). I can advise which spot is best depending the time of day you can do your shoot. There are some areas with trees that work well for times outside of morning/evening as well.
